In a move of solidarity with the striking doctors of West Bengal, several government and private hospitals across the country are on on a strike today. The move comes in support of a strike called by the Indian Medical Association to withdraw non-essential health services, such as OPDs and routine operations across the nation and will continue for 24 hours. The IMA has also called for a law that would provide for a minimum of 7 years imprisonment to perpetrators of violence in hospitals.
