The Delhi Police have registered an FIR under Sections 153-A that is promoting enmity between different groups, against unknown people, after “inflammatory, anti-Muslim slogans” were allegedly raised at Jantar Mantar on Sunday.
The Delhi Police said organisers had no permission for the rally and they have also added violation of Covid guidelines in the FIR.
The rally was called by Supreme Court lawyer and former Delhi BJP spokesperson Ashwini Upadhyay. Purported videos of the event showed people shouting slogans threatening harm to Muslims.
Shipra Srivastava, media in-charge of Bharat Jodo Movement, which had organised the rally, has distanced herself from the allegations of inflammatory slogans. She said, it was a protest against colonial laws used to which still exist, and protesters were also there to call for a Uniform Civil Code.

She went on to say that among 5,000 people, if five-six people in some corner were shouting such slogans, then they would disassociate themselves from them.
