In a major development, Delhi Capitals have appointed Rishabh Pant as their skipper for the 2021 edition of the IPL. He will replace an injured Shreyas Iyer, who hurt his left shoulder during India's recently concluded ODI series vs England. Hence, Iyer has been ruled out of the entire 14th edition of the cash-rich league. Though it will be Pant’s debut as IPL captain, but the 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman has captained Delhi’s state team in the past. Delhi Capitals play their first game on April 10 against the Chennai Super Kings.
