Filmmaker Deepa Mehta’s 'Funny Boy' is Canada’s official entry for the 93rd Academy Awards.
The film has been nominated for Best International Feature Film category, marking the director's second outing at the competition in this category.
Set in the 1970s and 1980s, 'Funny Boy' follows the story of a young boy growing up gay in Sri Lanka during the deadly Tamil-Sinhalese conflict.
The 2021 Oscars will take place on April 25, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
