Warner Bros. and DC Films have found their Batgirl in singer-actor Leslie Grace. The 26 year-old Afro-Latina star will play Barbara Gordon and her superhero alter-ego in the upcoming film for HBO Max.
Elated with bagging the role, Leslie tweeted to thank DC for welcoming her into the family.
While the plot details are all under wraps, DC fans know that Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon, is actually 'Batgirl'. As per reports, her character was supposed to appear in DC film 'Birds of Prey', but was later given her own film.
Leslie Grace is known for her breakout role in 2021 musical drama 'In the Heights'. Along with acting, Grace has made a name for herself in the world of music, receiving three Latin Grammy Award nominations.
'Batgirl' will stream on HBO Max, marking one of the first major DC properties to debut exclusively on the OTT plaform.
