If you're a fan of seafood, you better be careful. Seafood mislabeling is 'rampant' across the United States, according to a study released by non-profit organisation Oceana. The organisation collected over 400 samples from over 250 locations and about 20% of them were mislabeled. Of the species tested, sea bass and snapper had the highest rates of mislabeling. Seafood was more frequently mislabeled at restaurants than at supermarkets. Most places were found to be using imported seafood or low-value species to substitute the original variety.
