'Dance Deewane' host Raghav Juyal found himself in trouble, after many called him out on his 'racist' introduction of a contestant from Assam.

The short clip quickly gained traction where Raghav can be seen introducing Gunjan Sinha from Assam on the show using words like "Chinese" "momo" "ching chong" to address her.

After the backlash, the dancer turned host, took to his social media to clarify the 'misunderstanding'.

The 30-year-old artist shared a video of him explaining the story behind his controversial introduction of a young contestant hailing from Assam. He stated that the young contestant would talk in 'gibberish Chinese' and it soon became an inside joke over the course of the show.

Juyal further said, he was sorry if fans are hurt by his introduction, adding it was neither his nor the channel's motive to do so'. Lastly, he urged netizens to watch the whole episode and the show before judging him over the brief clip.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called out the show, saying racism should be condemned "unequivocally".

In a tweet, Sarma said, the "racist rhetoric" against the contestant was unacceptable.
