West Bengal Labour Minister Becharam Manna cycled around 40 kms from his home in Hooghly's Singur to the state assembly in Kolkata to protest the rising fuel prices.
Accompanied by Trinamool workers, Becharam Manna led the cycle march days ahead of the two-day protest scheduled by the TMC against the fuel hike.
TMC lawmaker Kalyan Ghosh also joined Manna from Domjur.
Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote to the PM calling the steep rise in prices ‘cruel hikes’ that have brought great distress to the people.
Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said that the the Centre has no palming and vision and repeated appeals to the Modi government have fallen on deaf ears.
Petrol and diesel prices touched a new high on Wednesday across the metro cities. Kolkata capped petrol at ₹ 100.23 per litre and diesel at ₹ 92.50 per litre.
