Covid vaccine for children: Cadila seeks nod for ZyCoV-D, says safe for 12-18 year olds

In what would be a game changer for the vaccine drive against Covid 19, Cadila Health has applied to DCGI for emergency use authorisation to launch ZyCoV-D vaccine for for COVID-19. Here is why is this vaccine is significant-: 

  • Cadila Health says ZyCoV-D effective against #Delta variant and other mutant strains of Covid-19
  • Cadila also claims ZyCoV-D safe for children in the age group of 12-18 years as per studies. 
  • Vaccine could be available as early as August in the market pending approvals
  • Cadila plans to manufacture 10 crore doses annually

ZyCoV-D is a plasma DNA based vaccine for Covid 19 studies and Cadila Health has conducted trials over 50 clinical sites across India.
