Covid spike: Centre writes to states ahead of festive season

As Covid cases continue to spiral, the Centre has directed all states and Union territories to regulate the crowd and ensure strict enforcement of protocols ahead of various festivals.

In view of the upcoming festivals such as Holi, Shab-e-Barat, harvesting festivals, Easter and then Eid in May, the Centre has written to states to enforce social distancing and wearing of masks.

India recorded over 62,000 new Covid-19 infections in 24 hours, according to the data released by the health ministry on Saturday morning.
