Covid: Maharashtra first state to cap prices of masks

Maharashtra has become the first state in the country to cap the rates of the N95 and layered masks. Double and triple layered masks in the state cannot be sold for more than ₹3 and ₹4 respectively, while N95 masks would have to be priced between ₹19 and ₹49, the state government has ordered. Announcing the capping of the price, state health minister Rajesh Tope said that when the govt is penalising people for not wearing masks due to the Covid pandemic, the masks have to affordable for the common people. Maharashtra is the worst affected state by the coronavirus pandemic.
