Professor Sarah Gilbert, the creator of AstraZeneca vaccine has said that Covid-19 is unlikely to mutate into a deadlier variant.

It will eventually just be a 'common cold', just like four other coronaviruses that circulate widely in the air, she added.

Speaking at Royal Medical Society seminar, she also said that work on a tweaked vaccine against Beta variant only gave 'slightly better' immune response. However, data is still being collected on it.

Professor Gilbert's comments come just as Professor Chris Witty, Chief Medical Officer of England warned that non vaccinated children are at a risk of contracting Covid-19 at least once.
