India reported 44,000 new Coronavirus cases and 738 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry dashboard on Saturday morning.
This the sixth straight day when new daily cases have stayed under 50,000. With this, the country’s overall caseload rose to 3.05 crore , while the death toll increased to 4.01 lakh.
Active cases have now dropped below 5 lakh, accounting for 1.67% of total infections. The country's recovery rate stood at 97.01% on Saturday, as more people were cured of the coronavirus disease and outnumbered the daily new cases for nearly two months.
The health ministry data showed that over 34.4 crore people have been vaccinated in the country so far.
