Paediatric trial for Bharat Biotech's Covaxin is likely to begin in June, the company's development and International advocacy head Dr. Raches Ella said on Sunday.

In a virtual conversation with the FICCI ladies organization, Dr Ella informed that the kids' vaccine trial of Bharat Biotech may get the license in the 3rd quarter of this year.

Apart from this, he said that the government has placed an advance purchase order of ₹1500 crore, which will in turn help them in increasing their risk appetite.

The biotechnology giant is currently focusing on ramping up the manufacturing capacity of the vaccine to 700 million doses by the end of the year, he added.

The company is expecting that the WHO would approve the indigenous vaccine by the 3rd or 4th quarter of the year.
