Coal Crisis: power packed meet at MHA, Amit Shah meets Power Minister, Coal Minister

The nation's power crisis has taken centre stage with Union Home Minister Amit Shah meeting the ministers for coal and power and along with officials of NTPC  as states face potential blackouts due to lack of coal.

As per data available out of 135 thermal plants that use coal for power generation, 106 or nearly 80 per cent were either in the critical or supercritical stage, i.e. they had stocks only for the next 6-7 days.

Several states have warned of blackouts even though the central government has assured that India has ample coal stocks to meet the demand of its power plants
