CNG, PNG Price hike: MGL announced a hike for CNG and well piped gas for it's Mumbai customers which is effective immediately. MGL hiked CNG price by Rs 2 to Rs 63.50/kg & PNG prices were raised by Rs 1.50 to Rs 38/SCM. This is also the second hike in 3 weeks.

CNG & PNG prices have been increased for the 4th time since Gas price revision on September 30. The price hikes have followed the Govt raising the ceiling of prices at which explorers (ONGC et al) are allowed to sell to producing consumers (Power cos, fertilizer firms, gas suppliers). The ceiling was hiked by 62%.

Due to the sharp rise in fuel costs taxi and auto unions are demanding a hike in base fares in the financial capital. Taxi unions are demanding Rs 30 (Rs 25 right now) as base fare, while the auto-rickshaw unions want Rs 23-24 (Rs 21 right now) as the new base fare.
