Christmas 2021: Celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ

As soon as the month of December begins, people eagerly wait for Christmas. From waiting for Santa Claus to the custom of gift giving.....people of all religions celebrate this festival with great gusto.

Observed on 25th December every year, Christmas is celebrated on the occasion of the birth of Jesus Christ. It is an event of utmost importance to the followers of Christianity as it is believed that God had sent his Son on earth as a sacrifice to redeem the people of the world from their sins.

Celebrations start from the evening a day before Christmas, which we call Christmas Eve. People sing carols remembering the Lord, prayers are held in churches around the world and different tableaux of the birth story of Jesus Christ are shown.

Many also bring Christmas trees into their homes and decorate it with gifts and ornaments. The traditional Christmas meal comprises of delicacies such as roasted turkey, gingerbread, Christmas cake, pudding, eggnog and mulled wine.
