Days after Delhi's GB Pant hospital sparked a row with its controversial ‘no Malayalam’ circular, the superintendent of the medical institute has apologized for hurting the sentiments of the Malayali-speaking staff. He also said that circular was issued in a positive sense but it was misinterpreted and that I didn't get a chance to explain.
The circular had directed the nursing staff in the hospital ‘to use only Hindi and English for communication" as ‘maximum patients and colleagues do not know’ Malayalam. The nurses body had objected to the circular asking why was Malayalam being singled out.
Following a row, the circular was withdrawn.
