"I have decided to return back to academia following the completion of my 3-year fulfilling tenure", with that simple tweet India's 17th Chief Economic Advisor KV Subramanian announced his decision to step down from his post after his 3 year tenure ends this year.

KV Subramanian who is also a tenured professor at Indian School of Business (ISB) took over the reins of CEA at the Finance Ministry in December, 2018 after the post lay vacant for 5 months after the sudden departure of Arvind Subramaniam.

Notably, the outgoing CEA KV Subramanian served on the expert committee on governance of banks for The Reserve Bank of India and also as a member of the Board of Directors at Bandhan Bank and the National Institute of Bank Management
