Celebrations begin for 4-day long Chhath Puja

Chhath Puja celebrations began 18th of November with much enthusiasm.

The 4-day long festival is mainly celebrated by people in Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. It is mainly dedicated to Chhathi Maiya and  Surya Dev or the Sun God. On day 1, which is also called Nahai Khai, devotees cook sattvik food.

Authorities have made preparations on the ghats on the 20th and 21st of November for devotees to offer their prayers to the Sun god. A number of steps have been taken to ensure that Covid-19 safety protocols are followed.
