Cause for worry: Kerala accounts for 50% of India's overall Covid-19 caseload

Despite safety measures and a complete lockdown in place, daily Covid cases in Kerala continue to show a significant surge with the state accounting for almost 50 per cent of the total caseload in the country.

According to the Health Ministry, 49.85 per cent of total cases of Covid-19 in India were reported from Kerala last week.

Kerala recorded 22,040 new Covid cases on Thursday, and 117 new fatalities, the death toll has now gone up to 17,328. Triggering more panic is Kerala's positivity rate at 13.49 per cent.

According to reports, one out of every 2 people in Kerala is infected when compared to other states which are reporting one case out of 30-odd infections.
