Should you buy a house, or should you rent?

That's a question which has triggered many debates across social media in recent years.

While conventional wisdom has favoured investing in realty, new age content creators such as Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath have been vociferous in their opposition to the idea.

So, it's not surprising that many of his followers were shocked when on the latest episode of his podcast WTF, Kamath revealed that he has purchased a house.

In fact, some netizens accused him of taking a u-turn and misleading others, while others called it a lesson for everyone who listened to Kamath.

However, justifying his move, the Zerodha co-founder said that of all the advantages of renting, there is one disadvantage: you don't have foresight as to when you can move out of the house.
