The price of chocolate also will leave a bitter after taste of expense. Nestle, producer of KitKat has raised prices by 6.5% in the first six months of this year and this may not be the end of it .

The Swiss multinational's price rise comes after fast food giants McDonald's and Coca-Cola announced price rises earlier this week.

In UK, the average price for a four-finger KitKat has rocketed by 15% from 60p to 70p since January.

Earlier this year, Nestle increased prices by more than 5% for the first quarter and warned that more rises could hit customers as it sought to pass on the impact of rising costs.

Nestlé owns a whole host of brands including KitKat, Maggi, Cereals including Cheerios.
