In a nail-biting match, India emerged as the winner, clutching the T20 World Cup for the first time after 17 years. As per Bloomberg, this tremendous victory is likely to further boost revenue for the sport that already attracts millions of dollars in advertising.
As per Mint, Disney Star which is this season’s official media rights holder was expecting to rake in as much as Rs 180 billion ($2.2 billion) in advertising from the sport. As per Bloomberg, earlier in the tournament, a 10 second advertising slot in the game between India and its neighbour Pakistan was expected to fetch about Rs 2 million on average.
Meanwhile, the report further noted that a Super Bowl ad costs $6.5 million for 30 seconds, while charges for advertising in the UK during the 2022 football World Cup were about £400,000 ($511,000) for 30 seconds
