Sun Pharma reported an "information security incident" at the company, 25 days later a ransomware group claimed responsibility for the breach.

A brief attack on the IT systems of Sun Pharma led to the theft of certain company personal data and a breach in the file system.

Sun Pharma released a statement in which it stated that "The Company promptly took steps to contain and remediate the impact of the IT security incident, including employing containment and eradication protocols to mitigate the threat and additional measures to ensure the integrity of its systems infrastructure and data."

The company's business operations were affected as a result of isolating its network as part of its containment strategy and starting a recovery process.

Sun Pharma stated that as a consequence, revenues are anticipated to decline. The business continued by saying that it is presently unable to determine any additional "potential adverse impacts" of the incident, such as additional security breaches or the potential for legal action.
