Parameswaran Iyer, PM Modi's Swachh Bharat man appointed as CEO, NITI Aayog

Niti Aayog New CEO : Parameswaran Iyer, the IAS officer who led the Swachh Bharat mission has been appointed the CEO of Niti Ayog taking over from Amitabh Kant whose term comes to an end on June 30.

Iyer, is a 1981-batch Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer  popularly took voluntary retirement from the IAS in 2009, Iyer had a stint with the World Bank as water and sanitation specialist. Popularly called Param came back from the United States to take on the appointment as  Secretary of the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation (MDWS) in 2016. At the time, PM Modi had vowed to declare the country ODF in five years.

Parameswaran Iyer replaces Amitabh Kant who was appointed as the CEO Niti Aayog on February 17, 2016, for a fixed two-year term but his term was extended thrice since then.
