Starting April 1, commuters crossing Mumbai's iconic Rajiv Gandhi Bandra Worli Sea Link will face an 18% surge in toll rates, announced officials from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation today
According to a spokesperson from MSRDC who spoke to PTI, the revised toll charges for one-way journeys will be ₹100 for cars and jeeps, and ₹160 for minibuses, tempos, and similar vehicles. Two-axle trucks will incur a fee of ₹210 for a one-way trip across the cable-stayed bridge.
Currently, motorists pay ₹85 for cars and jeeps, ₹130 for minibuses, tempos, and light commercial vehicles, and ₹175 for two-axle trucks and buses. These rates, effective since April 1, 2021, will witness an increment with the new rates set to be applicable from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2027.
The Bandra Worli Sea Link, operational since 2009, serves as a vital link connecting Worli in the Island City to Bandra in the Western suburbs, offering a respite from traffic congestion in Mahim, Dadar, Prabhadevi, and Worli areas.
To alleviate the toll burden, MSRDC announced a 10% rebate on the purchase of booklets containing 50 toll coupons and a 20% rebate on booklets with 100 coupons.
