iPhone manufacturer Foxconn to hire thousands, double its workforce in India

Apple's supplier Foxconn is planning to hire thousands of new employees to double its workforce in India. V Lee, Foxconn's representative in India took to LinkedIn and made the announcement while wishing Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 73rd Birthday.

"Happy Birthday, Honourable PM. Under your leadership, Foxconn has grown smoothly and rapidly in India. We will work even harder to present you with a greater birthday gift next year, aiming for another doubling of employment, FDI, and business size in India", V Lee posted in LinkedIn

Though Lee has not specified the exact number of hirings, the Foxconn plant in Tamil Nadu has already employed 40,000 employees. 

Earlier Reuters had reported that Foxconn was planning to hire about 53,000 more workers over the next two years and expand its worforce to around 70,000 in India.
