The board of directors of IndiGo is most likely to approve an order for 500 Airbus A320 Neo family aircraft today. The order is more than $50 billion in value at list price, but the actual sum is probably much lower because such huge orders frequently receive significant discounts.

The deal will surpass Air India's 470-aircraft order from March to become the largest in aviation history. By 2030, IndiGo will have received 477 aircraft from the same A320 generation. With this purchase, the airline will be able to increase its fleet without interruption over the course of the next ten years.

With over 60% of the domestic market in India, IndiGo has taken advantage of the difficulties faced by competitors to start additional routes while utilising its expanding and sizable fleet.

Following a rapid rebound in air travel after Covid, airlines have ordered a slew of brand-new aircraft, packing Airbus and Boeing's order books.

The airline's expected procurement of 300 longer-range A321 Neo and A321 XLR aircraft demonstrates the company's desire to expand globally.

Currently, the airline connects 75 international city pairings with 26 foreign destinations. According to past comments from IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers, the airline intends to raise its international seat share from 23% in FY 23 to 30% in the next two years.
