India's China crackdown: After Xiaomi, ZTE & Vivo under scanner

India is extending its investigation into other Chinese firms after Xiaomi and the lens is focussed on ZTE Corp. and Vivo Mobile Communication. As per reports the Indian govt is probing ZTE and Vivo Mobile. 

Bloomberg reports quoting documents seen, that Vivo has been asked to clarify on “significant irregularities in ownership and financial reporting”. In the case of ZTE authorities are reportedly scrutinizing auditor reports on a tip-off for potential violation including fraud.

The govt has tightened scrutiny of China-based firms after the border clashes in 2020. Measures included banning on Chinese apps, exclusion from 5G network trials and also probes, fines on violations by existing Chinese telcos in India.
