Facebook parent company Meta is likely to introduce a new virtual currency 'Zuck Bucks' that the company's customers can use across its apps. 'Zuck Bucks' seems to be named after Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

However, 'Zuck Bucks' is less likely to be a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and thousands of others.

Tech giant Meta is looking into introducing a centralised in-app currency system that will be shared across its platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, as reported by The Financial Times.

“Meta is leaning towards introducing in-app tokens that would be centrally controlled by the company, similar to those used in gaming apps such as the Robux currency in popular children’s game Roblox,” according to the FT report.

Roblox has built a huge business selling Robux, and Meta could try to follow some of that success on its own platforms.

The FT report says Meta plans to launch a pilot in mid-May.
