During a recent interview on X spaces, Tesla's CEO Elon Musk made striking predictions regarding the future of artificial intelligence. Musk asserted that AI is capable of surpassing human intelligence as soon as next year or by 2026.

Musk emphasized the critical role of electricity in unlocking AI's potential. He disclosed plans for the upcoming iteration of Grok, an AI chatbot developed by his startup xAI, set for training completion by May. However, Musk lamented the scarcity of advanced chips, hindering Grok's enhancement, revealing that the training process for Grok 2 demanded a staggering 20,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs.

xAI, Musk's venture, emerged as a contender against OpenAI, with Musk accusing the latter of straying from its original altruistic goals towards profit-driven motives. The tech mogul stressed the pivotal role of electricity supply in AI's developmental trajectory over the coming years.

Shifting gears to the automotive sector, Musk underscored the formidable competition posed by Chinese car manufacturers, labeling them as "the most competitive in the world." He cautioned that without trade barriers, Chinese rivals could potentially outpace global counterparts.

Regarding ongoing labor disputes, Musk expressed optimism, suggesting that challenges faced by Tesla in Sweden were waning. Nicolai Tangen, CEO of Norway's $1.5 trillion sovereign wealth fund and a significant Tesla shareholder, confirmed recent discussions with Tesla's leadership regarding the company's operational landscape.

Musk's assertions about the rapid evolution of AI and its potential to surpass human intelligence next year or by 2026 mark a significant milestone in the discourse surrounding artificial intelligence. With his ventures xAI and Tesla at the forefront of technological innovation, Musk's predictions invite both excitement and contemplation about the future of AI and its implications for humanity.
