Domestic Airline traffic soars over 21% at nearly 1.3 crore in March: DGCA

The domestic airline traffic in March 2023 soared 21.4% year-on-year and is at nearly 1.3 crore as per data from DGCA. The number of passengers carried by the airlines during January-March 2023 increased by 51.70% to 375.04 lakh compared to 247.23 lakhs during the same period last year. The monthly growth rate is at 21.41%.

As per DGCA, the overall cancellation rate of scheduled airlines for March is at 0.28%. A total of 347 passenger-related complaints had been received by the scheduled domestic airlines during March 2023. Most of the problems registered was related to baggage and flight problems. The DGCA also revealed that 343 out of the 347 complaints were addressed. 

Airlines Indigo and Vistara has seen an improvement in their market share. While Indigo's share is at 56.8%, Vistara is at 8.9%. However, market shares of  Go First and Air India declined in March. As per CNBC-News18, Go First saw a drop of 1.1% to 6.9% against 8% in February, while Air India fell 0.1% to 8.8% from 8.9% in February.
