Ticket prices on sale or will they soar? That is the question on everyone's minds as the two-year cap on airfare pricing (lower and upper) is finally lifted.

During the low passenger traffic during the pandemic, the upper and lower caps on airfare were introduced as a method to protect passengers from paying for overpriced tickets and weaker airlines from losing out.

India's largest carrier IndiGo informed that the removal of airfare caps will help airlines to increase their passenger load factors by offering discounted fares.

While Tata-operated Vistara is unlikely to start offering any big sales to its customers. “As far as Vistara is concerned, we will continue to have a balanced pricing strategy,” the spokesperson told PTI.
