Body with chopped limb found near farmers' protest site, Nihang group claims responsibility

A body of a man with chopped limbs has been found tied to a police barricade at the farmers' protest site at Singhu Border.

DSP Sonipat informed that the Kundli police station received information about the gruesome incident at around 5 am but could not get any leads at the site. The police has taken the body to the Civil Hospital. 

The dead man was identified Lakhbir Singh, a resident of Cheema Kalan village in Punjab's Taran Taran district. An FIR has been filed against unknown persons.

Nirvair Khalsa-Udna Dal, a Nihang group has claimed responsibility of killing the man for allegedly committing sacrilege by removing the cloth covering the holy book. 

A video of the dead man from the protest site has been circulating on social media. Police has not confirmed any rumors so far and has asserted that the investigation is in progress.
