Recently, a team of researchers from the University of Indiana made history. For the last four years, these researchers were working on how precision medicine could change the lengthy process of getting a mental health diagnosis.
The research team worked with more than 300 participants, logging their blood biomarkers. For those who are not aware, blood biomarkers are characteristics in the blood, which can be read almost like signs into the health of a human.
Now, the team believes they know how to use these to read a patient for depression and bipolar disorder. It can also give highly specific advice about what kind of treatment would work best for that individual.
We're eagerly waiting for this to be implemented as this has the potential to revolutionise diagnoses related to mental health.
