The BCCI have offered to play two extra T20I in England next summer following the last-minute cancellation of the 5th Test in Manchester because of Covid-19 cases in the Indian camp.
According to a report in Mail Today, The ECB is understood to be considering the move as they seek to cover their losses. However, the offer designed to help ease a potential shortfall of £40million in English cricket’s already stretched budget, would be instead of, not as well as, the rescheduled Test. The offer of a rescheduled Test also stands. It may depend on whether the various broadcasters, who paid £25million for the rights to the Old Trafford Test, would be willing to settle for two T20I rather than 5 full days.
Team India is set to travel to UK once again next year to play 6 limited overs matches from July 1 to 14. The rescheduled Test or the 2 T20I can be accommodated then.
