BCCI has finalised its plans for the next edition of the Indian Premier League as they plan to expand the domestic T20 competition. According to a report in the Times of India, BCCI is on the verge of floating tender documents soon and the new teams will be finalised by October this year. There is a Mega Auction in the plan for December 2021 which will help the 2-new teams to get some big stars. Player retention rules & salary caps are also going to change as the IPL Governing Council is likely to allow every franchise to retain 3 Indian and 1 overseas star. Salary caps and purses for each team will be increased as well. With 10 teams, IPL from next season is all set to have 90 games as BCCI is also keen to rake in a higher sum of money with the broadcast rights also up for grabs from 2022.
