The rumours about Sergio Aguero's imminent retirement have been circulating in the media ever since he came off in his first match for Barcelona and it seems that they were true.

According to reports in the Spanish media, the Barca striker is set to hang up his boots this week due to a cardiac evaluation, ending the Argentine's career at 33. Aguero, who arrived at Barcelona on a free transfer in the close season, was brought off after 41 minutes of his first start for the club after suffering from chest pains. He was later diagnosed with heart arrhythmia.

Though Barcelona declined to comment on the situation, sources close to the development confirmed to Reuters that a ceremony is being prepared by the club for Wednesday.
