On today’s episode of Ask The Doctor, India’s top medical experts call for a nationwide lockdown, they say India has to step up vaccination and must be prepared to ‘beg, borrow or steal’ vaccines to do so.

Dr Arvinder Soin, Chairman, Institute of Liver Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine, Medanta Medicity, Gurgaon, says it is important to seal state borders to prevent people from infected areas spilling onto others.

Dr Praveen Chandra, Cardiologist and Chairman of Interventional Cardiology, Medanta Medicity, adds, that train, bus & air services must be suspended like last year. He says India must put aside its ego or sense of national pride and get as many kinds of vaccines possible from all sources, it is time to ‘beg, borrow and steal’ vaccines for our people and that’s the only option.

Dr Ambrish Mithal, Chairman & Head, Endocrinology & Diabetes, Max Healthcare also advocates a lockdown but adds a lockdown formula will only work if India can vaccinate its people heavily in the meantime.
