Arjan Bhullar became the first ever Indian-origin fighter to win a world title in a top-level MMA promotion after finishing Brandon Vera in two rounds at the Singapore-based One Championship on Saturday. With that, he ended the Filipino-American’s five-year championship-winning run.
A former wrestler, Bhullar had won the Commonwealth games gold medal in 2010. After his wrestling career, he also won his UFC debut bout and had become the first Indian origin fighter to do that.
Compatriot Ritu Phogat however wasn't as lucky as she lost a split decision in a closely fought contest.
