Apple has announced that it will invest $45 million into Gorilla Glass manufacturer Corning from its Advanced Manufacturing Fund. This is in addition to the $450 million it has already invested into Corning over the last four years.
According to Apple, the investment will expand Corning’s manufacturing capacity in the US and drive research and development into innovative new technologies that support durability and long-lasting product life.
The two companies collaborated on developing the Ceramic Shield coating for the iPhone 12, which Apple claims is the strongest smartphone glass on the market.
