Apple doubled its business in India for the fiscal year 2021, as revealed by CEO Tim Cook on the firm's earnings call on Friday. Moreover, the company saw nearly one-third of its revenue come from emerging markets.

While Tim Cook did not mention what factors helped the company double its business in India, he did highlight that Apple "grew double digits in each geographical segment, setting September quarter records in both developed and emerging markets."

It's worth noting that Apple's iPhone 12 series of smartphones received massive discounts during ongoing festive season sales on e-commerce platforms in India.

Reports say older generation iPhone models like the iPhone 12 have played a large role in the company's success in the quarter, alongside the even older iPhone 11. Moreover, increased local assembly, retail initiatives like the setting up of an online store, and aggressive market strategies have also contributed to Apple's success in the country.

Earlier in January, Tim Cook had said Apple's business in India had doubled over the previous quarter, and that the company had achieved a "quarterly record" in the Indian market in October 2020.
