Apex Court to hear PIL on doctors' security

Amid a pan-India strike of the doctors, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear a PIL that demands deployment of security at government hospitals. The petition cited media reports of a brutal attack on the junior doctor Paribaha Mukherjee by the family members of a senior citizen. Paribaha sustained severe injuries in the attack. The petition cited a study by the Indian Medical Association stating that more than 75 per cent Indian doctors have faced some form of violence.
