Five people including BJP leader Ashwani Upadhyay have been detained for alleged anti-Muslim slogans during a protest at Jantar Mantar.

The Delhi Police said, it is handling the matter as per law and communal disharmony will not be tolerated. The Police registered a case on Monday after purported videos showing anti-Muslim slogans at the protest in Jantar Mantar surfaced on social media.

A large number of people had attended the protest organised by Bharat Jodo Aandolan at Jantar Mantar on Sunday. Shipra Srivastava, media in-charge of Bharat Jodo Aandolan, said the protest was held under the leadership of advocate and former BJP spokesperson Ashwini Upadhyay.
