Amazon had earlier announced that its subscription service Amazon Prime would be getting a price hike in India. The price hike will be coming into effect from 12 AM on December 14.
5 years after Amazon Prime was launched in India, the company has decided to hike the subscription fee. Under the new pricing scheme, the Monthly plan will go from ₹129 to ₹179, the Quarterly plan will go from ₹329 to ₹459, while the Annual plan, which was ₹999, will now cost ₹1,499.
A support page on Amazon’s website says that users can join Prime and lock in the old price as part of a limited offer period. Users are recommended to renew or buy Prime as soon as possible before the offer ends. According to the page, the offer will end on December 13, 2021, after which the new prices will come into effect.

The benefits of an Amazon Prime subscription remain unchanged, despite the price hike. Users get access to video content on Prime Video, and music on Prime Music. Free one or two-day delivery to eligible addresses will also continue, as will access to in-game content through Prime Gaming, and a rotating selection of books through Prime Reading.
