All India Tennis Association hits back at Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza over Olympics qualification row

The All India Tennis Association has hit back at tennis players Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza on their tweets over not qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The Tennis body clarified saying that India's best entry was sent for the Olympics, but Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan they did not qualify as per the ITF rules.

Adding that the players' rankings were not good enough for direct qualifications, AITA unequivocally criticised both the senior players for their comments, calling them misleading and inappropriate.

Both the Tennis stars had accused the association over their qualification, blaming AITA for sacrificing India's medal hopes.

Rohan Bopanna in a tweet said, that the Indian Tennis Federation did not accept his and Sumit Nagal's entry request for Tokyo 2020, adding that AITA has mislead the players, government, and the media.

Reacting to Bopanna, Sania Mirza also blamed AITA for sacrificing a genuine shot of winning gold at Tokyo 2020. She said that she and Bopanna were both informed that the him and Sumit Nagal's names have been given for the Summer Games.
