As thousands of Afghans flee the country to evade possible persecution by the Taliban, a group of brave women were seen on the streets of Kabul, taking out the first public protest in Afghanistan demanding their rights.
In a video shared by Iranian journalist Masih Alinejad on Twitter, four Afghan women could be seen holding handwritten paper signs on a street of Kabul while surrounded by Taliban fighters.
The women could be heard demanding their rights, including social security, right to work, right to education and right to political participation.
"All our achievements over the years should not be compromised and our basic rights," they said.
Meanwhile, TOLO News, one of Afghanistan's major media outlets, has said that its women anchors and field reporters, will continue to do their jobs fearlessly.
Many women fled Afghanistan fearing their life and safety after the Taliban took control of Kabul on Sunday. An Afghan woman who arrived in Delhi from Kabul said she feared for the safety of her friends back home.
"Our friends are going to get killed. They are going to kill us. Our women are not going to have any more rights," the woman said.
