AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria said on Monday that there is no data anywhere in the world to corroborate the fact that the third wave of Covid-19 infections could affect children more than others.
He added that according to the second wave data, out of all the children admitted to hospitals with Covid-19, 60-70% had co-morbidities or low immunity, some were on chemo therapy. Guleria said, most healthy children who were infected recovered without the need for hospitalisation.
NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul said, that it would be difficult for the virus to reach children if more and more adults get vaccinated.
