Continuing with the worrying surge in the Covid-19 cases, India has recorded over 53,000 new cases in the last 24 hours, according to the data released by the health ministry on Thursday morning.
The jump of 53,476 cases in the biggest single-day spike in the country in over 5 months. The spike in the last 24 hours was 13 per cent higher than over 47,000 fresh cases reported on Wednesday.
Over the last two weeks, India has been witnessing a huge spike in fresh infections. Of the total 1.17 crore cases, 1.12 crore people have recovered; 1,60,692 have died so far after contracting the virus.
